Seeking an experienced media sales leader with focus on achievement, creativity, employee engagement and solutions to lead a team of media sales executives and management to exceed share of the market and billing goals. The Director of Sales is ultimately responsible for revenue generation, budgeting and forecasting; inventory pricing and control; strategies⁄policies; administration of all sales and marketing functions with the overall goal of achieving and exceeding competitive market share. Top candidates will have a proven track record of overcoming obstacles, achieving goals and engaging a diverse team of media sales professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage sales performance to achieve local, national, political and on-line revenue budgets.
- Establish and execute strategic and tactical plans to maximize the stations’ competitive advantage.
- Control and price spot inventory and accurately forecast and budget spot and project revenue.
- Interface and manage TeleRep on all matters related to the national competitive landscape.
- Work with peers to create product and projects to meet revenue goals.
- Provide department sales structure including hiring, training, and coaching of all department personnel.
- Develop and foster relationships with clients and community leaders and represent the station at functions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the local and national markets and respond effectively.
- Lead and motivate overall department and station employee engagement initiatives.
- Develop, manage and communicate a competitive commission and bonus sales structure.
- 25-35% business travel and periodic after hour and weekend entertainment of clients.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirments:
— 4+ years track record of broadcast and interactive media sales management experience with verifiable success at increasing revenue and market share
— Excellent verbal and written communication skills and expertise in developing and delivering effective sales presentations
— Strong leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and mentor a team to meet and exceed sales goals
— Analytical skills, including experience in forecasting sales and market trends
— Must have strong background in agency business and new business development
— Strong skills in developing, building and maintaining client relationships
— Ability to effectively and creatively design and manage special projects and new sales promotions
— Computer literate in MS Office suite and various industry sales software systems
— Bachelor’s degree required
— Must have valid drivers license and desire and ability to travel extensively as required
